Given to Singapore to greatly help deter Japanese improvements inside community, the battleship Prince of Wales and battle cruiser Repulse are symbols of British naval power. On December 8th, 1941,these two cash vessels, escorted by two E course destroyers (HMS Electra, HMS Express), one S course destroyer (HMS Tenedos), combined with the Australian navy destroyer HMAS Vampire, sent from Singapore striking a Japanese intrusion force. This objective wound up being aborted as well as the team,minus the detached HMS Tenedos, switched right back towards Singapore. But they'd been recently spotted by Japanese aircraft and submarines, plus in ensuing bomb and torpedo attackby bombers, both cash vessels was in fact sunk.
